Disappointment
February 8th 2010 08:13
Today, perhaps, I could have done with one of those modern sofas to sink into - you know the kind where when you sit down on them you sink gradually until somebody looks up and discovers that you've been sucked into the upholstery.
On the other hand, with the state of my back at the moment (the result of a fall I had the weekend before last), a luxurious soft sofa is probably the last thing I need. I might just split completely in two.
Anyway, what I meant to write about before I got waylaid onto sofas, was that today finally my new computer arrived from Dell - or so I thought until I got it home (it had been delivered to work) and discovered it was nothing more than the printer!
Disappointment to the max!
I rang Dell (again) and somehow got onto their automated system instead of onto a human being and the automated voice kindly informed me that the computer would be delivered by the 11th of February or before. It's already taken since the 19th of January, when I ordered it. Can't say I'm impressed with their speed. However, since last week is gone, and it didn't arrive then, I guess I can only say that it will be good if it arrives this week.
My geek son gave me a bit of a fright about it yesterday, saying that it wouldn't solve the problem we have with the modem switching itself off at irregular intervals. We all looked at him and thought to ourselves: geeks don't know everything.
Time will tell.
