Linking forward
August 20th 2007 16:54
It’s time to do the monthly (approximately) link to an unsuspecting blogger trick.
First on the list is Georgia Girl. I came across this site on myLot.com, where the blog’s writer, Andrea, is looking for people to visit her site and help pay towards her cheerleading fees. She lists a number of ways of doing this at the bottom of the page.
Incidentally, on Andrea’s site I came across AuctionAds.com. This is a site similar to Google’s Adsense, and one you can use in conjunction with the latter. I’ve installed it on my main blog: the version I’ve got actually brings up pictures of the items being advertised on eBay.
The second site is called Tips Collection, and it has nothing to do with dealing with your garbage. Instead, it focuses on giving tips for a number of things, not just domestic, such as 7 ways to get better sleep; cleaning your computer and free travel tips and advice. A site with some useful material on it.
I was about to mention a third site when the browser came up with some odd advertising about adult content. Thought I’d better close it down before anything worse arrived. So I lost track of the third site - which seems to have been where the strange advertising originated, unfortunately.
So to compensate I clicked on the next blog on Blogger, and amazingly came up with a blog I’ve read before: The 4th Avenue Blues. Andrew in Alabama runs it, and writes regular posts about his recovery from mental illness and alcoholism. He also talks a lot about his friend, Rosa, who’s had an equally difficult life. Andrew’s never as gloomy as he might be given his circumstances, and he’s worth a look.
After stumbling through a couple of foreign language blogs, I turned up the Idaho News Spot. Almost every post has Idaho in the title, which presumably makes it good for being picked up on Google and co. Most of the posts, however, are short and act mainly as links to news about the state.
And finally on today’s gift list, we have What I’m Thinkin’. This is a family-focused blog, and starts off with lots of family pictures (at the moment, anyway), including one of a really cute baby boy. What the Net is about at its best.
